Artisan Acoustics

Three ranges, and someone who knows all three

Two blokes who couldn't afford hi-fi, so they learned to build it. Today we are the official distributor for SB Acoustics and SB Audience in Singapore and East & West Malaysia, and we carry Hypex Class D amplification.

Drivers, speaker kits, assembled speakers, and the amplifier modules to drive them. Free advice on your plans — stereo or home theatre, passive or active, built by you or built by us.

What we carry

Two of these come off the same factory floor in Indonesia. The third is Dutch. All three are here for the same reason: they are built by the people who designed them, and every figure they publish can be checked.

Satori MW19P-8 midwoofer, shown face-on above a side profile: a speckled brown Egyptian Papyrus cone with a shallow dome dust cap, a rubber surround and a six-bolt black cast aluminium chassis, with the vented motor and polished pole visible from the side.

SB Acoustics

Hi-fi drivers and the kits built from them. Drawn by Danesian Audio in Denmark, built at Sinar Baja Electric in Surabaya. Beryllium, TeXtreme and textile domes; Egyptian Papyrus, Norex paper and spread-tow carbon cones. The Satori line sits at the top of it.

SB Audience NERO-12MWN400D twelve-inch woofer, face-on above a side profile: a black paper cone with a domed dust cap inside a ribbed surround on an eight-bolt cast chassis, the side view showing the open basket arms, the terminals and a compact neodymium motor.

SB Audience

The professional arm of the same Surabaya works: Bianco, Rosso and Nero, plus compression drivers and the horns to mount them on. Built for stage, install and touring, by a plant with four decades of contract manufacturing behind it.

Hypex

Class D amplification from Groningen, built in Hypex’s own Malaysian factory. FusionAmp plate amplifiers with a DSP crossover on board, Nilai500 kits, and UcD modules — the other half of an active build.

Who is SB Acoustics?

Three SB Acoustics drivers in a row, rear three-quarter view of cast baskets and motors; SB Acoustics logo.

Danesian Audio is a Danish outfit full of industry veterans responsible for some of the most admired loudspeaker drivers on the market, usually under someone else’s badge.

Sinar Baja Electric builds them in Indonesia — casting the baskets, winding the voice coils and spraying the cabinets in the same works. The March 2026 price list quotes drivers, cabinets, grilles and crossovers ex-works from that one address.

SB Acoustics is what happens when the Danes design it and the Indonesians build it properly. Danesian Audio draws the driver; Sinar Baja Electric makes every part of it.

Two brands come out of that factory: SB Acoustics for hi-fi and SB Audience for pro audio. We are the distributor for both in Singapore and East & West Malaysia. Hypex is a different story — a Dutch amplifier company with its own factory in Malaysia — and we carry it because an active loudspeaker needs both halves.

Why SB Acoustics?

Because you can buy the driver, the cabinet, the crossover or the finished speaker — and we will tell you which one you actually need.

The people who design them

Danesian Audio is a Danish design house formed by engineers who left Scan-Speak, and it is now part of the same group as SB Acoustics. Same drawing board, minus the markup.

Egyptian Papyrus cones. Beryllium domes. TeXtreme carbon fibre. Honeycomb, ceramic and Norex paper. Neodymium motors with aluminium shorting rings — the material is in the manufacturer's own description of every model.

The Satori line alone runs to more than sixty models: tweeters in textile ring dome, beryllium, TeXtreme and air-motion form, midwoofers in Papyrus or TeXtreme, woofers up to 13½ inches. Browse the driver catalogue.

Professional Cabinetry

Every SB kit comes with cabinets finished at the factory — six satin and piano gloss colours across the Satori kits, walnut veneer on the Kinnara and the Gema.

Six finishes on the Sasandu, Rinjani and Ara cabinets: satin or high gloss in white and black, high gloss in red and orange. Magnetic grilles come with them.

Danish Aesthetics

SB loudspeakers design is minimalist, form follows function & distinctly Danish.

Minimalist, clean, distinctly Scandinavian.

These speakers look their best with the grilles off, which is where most owners leave them.

Cabinet cross-section and front elevation: slanted baffle, separate internal chambers, three driver cut-outs. Dimensions in mm.

Meticulous CABINET DESIGN

The cabinet is drawn as carefully as the crossover.

Angled baffles for time alignment. Non-parallel internal walls to kill standing waves. Wedge-shaped rear chambers to reduce reflections.

The cabinet drawings ship with the kit, down to the cut pattern for the damping material.

Pre-assembled crossover board labelled SBA ARA, with air-core coils, film capacitors and keyed connectors.

Pre-assembled crossovers

Assembled, tested, and wired with connectors that only fit one way.

You literally cannot wire the bass to the tweeter.

We know because someone tried.

No soldering. No guesswork. Just plug in and stop worrying.

Every number, published

Every driver has a published datasheet — Fs, Qts, Vas, Bl, Le, Sd, Mms, sensitivity, recommended box volumes. We hold the March 2026 catalogue for both brands.

Ask before you buy and we will send you the sheet. Ask three years later and it is the same model, built to the same published parameters.

Speaker kits

Designed in Denmark, built in Indonesia, assembled by you. Cabinets, crossovers and drivers arrive as a set — the crossovers already built and tested.

Sasandu floorstanding speaker in gloss black, angled view: dome tweeter, midrange and two woofers on a slanted baffle.

Sasandu

The flagship. Three-way, beryllium tweeter, Egyptian Papyrus cones top to bottom. This is what happens when SB stops holding back.

Sasandu TeXtreme floorstander in black gloss, straight on: a 29 mm TeXtreme dome tweeter on a black faceplate above a midrange and two woofers, every cone showing the checkerboard weave of spread-tow carbon.

Sasandu TeXtreme®

Flagship 3-way Floorstanding Loudspeaker featuring all-TeXtreme tweeter, midwoofer and woofer cones

Rinjani TeXtreme floorstander in white gloss, straight on: a 29 mm TeXtreme dome tweeter on a black faceplate above two 6.5-inch midwoofers whose spread-tow carbon cones show a checkerboard weave, on a cabinet with a slanted front baffle.

Rinjani TeXtreme®

The Rinjani, carbonised. Same cabinet geometry, all-TeXtreme drivers.

Gloss black Rinjani Be floorstander baffle: dome tweeter above two identical mid-woofers with speckled fibre cones.

Rinjani Be

2.5-way floorstander with dual Papyrus midwoofers and a beryllium tweeter. Does the heavy lifting without breaking a sweat — or your bank account.

Ara TeXtreme bookshelf speaker in black gloss, straight on: a 29 mm TeXtreme dome tweeter on a black faceplate above a 6.5-inch midwoofer with a checkerboard spread-tow carbon cone.

Ara TeXtreme®

The smallest speaker with the most advanced cone material SB makes. Fits on a shelf. Fills a room.

Pair of black gloss two-way bookshelf speakers with slanted baffles, cream cone midwoofers and dome tweeters.

Ara Be

Two-way bookshelf: a 6½″ Satori Papyrus midwoofer under a 29 mm beryllium dome, in the same cabinet finishes as the floorstanders.

Don't take our word for it — take the customer's.

Pair of walnut-veneer Gema three-way speakers on wooden plinths, each with tweeter, midrange and large woofer.

Gema

Retro curves, modern guts. SB's nod to the golden age of loudspeaker design, except it actually measures well.

We're biased. Obviously. So here's what the people who actually paid us have to say.
