Micro

A four-inch aluminium cone and a 19 mm textile dome, on a square-framed chassis drawn for a narrow baffle — the compact two-way of the range.

About the Micro

One four-inch midwoofer and one 19 mm dome per cabinet. The Micro is drawn for the places a full-size standmount will overwhelm: a desk, a bookshelf, the near field of a small room, where the distance from driver to ear is measured in feet.

Per cabinet: one 4″ SB12PAC25-4 aluminium-cone midwoofer and one SB19ST-C000-4 textile dome. For the same kit with a ceramic cone in place of the aluminium one, see the Micro-C.

The Micro is a compact two-way with a genuinely small footprint — bookshelf, desktop or nearfield. An aluminium cone midwoofer under a soft dome, with the port firing forward out of the bottom of the baffle so the speaker can sit close to a wall.

At 260 mm tall it is the smallest thing SB Acoustics draw, and the case they make for it is simple enough: far better sound than a pre-assembled consumer speaker of the same size, from a crossover you can see.

Tweeter — One SB19ST-C000-4 per cabinet

A 19.1 mm textile dome on a ferrite motor behind an injection-moulded faceplate. A dome this small stays wide in its dispersion right to the top of the band, which is what keeps a compact two-way sounding open away from the axis.

The cabinets arrive finished

The cabinet set arrives cut, assembled and finished at the same works that makes the drivers, on the same machines, to the same tolerances — so the job in front of you is the acoustics: mount the drivers, wire the crossover, fit the damping.

Six finishes are drawn up for the Micro: white satin, white high gloss, black satin, black high gloss, red high gloss and orange high gloss. The set covers two cabinets, and it is supplied without grilles.

Tell us which finish you want when you enquire and we will confirm it against the current factory list before anything is ordered.
